Do not speak in the ears of a fool, for he will despise the wisdom of your words. Proverbs 23:9
While we are to call upon all to repent of their sinful ways and believe the Gospel of forgiveness and life through faith in Jesus Christ, there is little use in trying to convince a person who despises and rejects the wisdom of our words; and to waste time arguing with a fool is foolish on our part (cf. Prov. 26:4).
Grant that we faithfully bear witness to the truth revealed in Your Word, O Lord, but keep us from the folly of arguing with fools who despise the wisdom of Your Word. Amen.
