“In whom ye also trusted, after ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, who is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of his glory.” Ephesians 1:13-14
Hearing the gospel, the word of truth, we too came to trust in Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice on the cross. The Holy Spirit graciously brought us to faith in Christ through hearing God’s Word. He came to regenerate and dwell in us at our baptism, and He keeps us in saving faith through the continued use of God’s Word until that day when we are taken to be forever with the Lord.
Thank You, dear Savior, for sending men to preach the gospel of our salvation, for granting us the Holy Spirit to create faith in our hearts through the hearing of Your word, and for preserving us in saving faith through Your word unto life everlasting. Amen.
