“See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; in that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.” Deuteronomy 30:15-16
People in Old Testament times, as well as today, forget there is blessing in loving the LORD God of the Bible and walking in His ways, and cursing and judgment upon those who turn away from the LORD and walk in their own ways and according to their own views and opinions. God would have us repent of our sinful ways and look to Him for mercy in Christ Jesus and for the sake of His atoning sacrifice for our sins, lest His judgments fall upon us.
Have mercy upon me, O God, and pardon my offenses for the sake of Christ’s innocent sufferings and death on the cross for the sins of the world. Create in me a genuine love for You and the desire to walk in accord with Your Word. Amen.
