“Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.” Psalm 37:7-9
As believers in God’s promises, we know the end of the story. We need not fret when evildoers prosper and we suffer hardship and persecution. As believers, resting in the Word of the LORD, we wait patiently for the LORD to keep His Word and to fulfill all that He has promised. We turn from responding in anger and sin. Instead, we wait for the LORD, knowing that evildoers will be cut off and those who trust in God’s promises will inherit the earth.
Grant me faith to believe the promises of Your Word, O God, and to wait patiently for You to fulfill all You have promised. Grant that I not be moved to act in anger or wrath but to rest in You and await the eternal joys of heaven. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
[Scripture is quoted from the King James Version of the Bible.]
