“Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me. The ox knoweth his owner, and the donkey his master’s crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider. Ah, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel to anger, they are gone away backward.” Isaiah 1:2-4
As it was in the days of the prophet Isaiah, so it is today. The LORD created us and gave us life and every blessing, but we do not recognize Him as our Maker and God. Instead of looking to Him and His Word, we have turned aside from Him and His ways to fulfill the selfish and sinful desires of our hearts. We have forsaken the LORD, corrupted His word, and provoked Him to righteous anger.
Have mercy upon me, O God, and move me to repent of my evil ways and look to You for pardon and forgiveness in the shed blood of Christ Jesus on the cross. In His name, I pray. Amen.
