All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:6
This ancient prophecy given through Isaiah teaches us that each and every one of us, like a wayward sheep, has turned aside from the way of the LORD and gone his own way. We have all sinned against our Creator and stand guilty before God. But the LORD has laid the guilt and punishment for the sins of all upon Him – on His own dear Son, Christ Jesus – and Jesus atoned for the sins of all when He suffered and died on the cross that we might look to Him in faith and be forgiven and have life everlasting!
I have sinned, O LORD. I have turned aside from Your holy commandments and walked in my own sinful ways. Pardon my sin and forgive my iniquity for the sake of the holy and precious blood of the Son, Christ Jesus, and His atoning sacrifice on the cross in my stead. Amen.
[Scripture is quoted from the King James Version of the Bible.]
