My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:1-2
How can a holy God forgive us when we repent of our sins and confess them to Him? It is because of Jesus Christ, who lived a righteous and holy life in our stead and then suffered and died on the cross to atone for our sins and the sins of the whole world. The risen and ascended Lord Jesus is our Advocate with the Father. He pleads for us with His own precious blood, shed for the sins of all.
Forgive my sins, O Lord, and cleanse my heart for the sake of Christ Jesus and His atoning sacrifice for the sins of the world. Amen.
